The Existential Cost of Seeing Everything

When every mundane act has forty visible alternatives online, how do we decide who we are? We have traded the quiet work of our imagination for a near-infinite archive of other people's lives and it is costing us our sanity. In this video essay, we explore the subtle, creeping shift from information overload to something much more destabilizing: the death of our default mode of living. When the most ordinary details of our day how we eat breakfast, organize our desks, or handle a difficult afternoon are presented to us in effortless, hyper-realistic, infinite variations, living starts to feel like a continuous, forced evaluation of our own existence. We used to believe that raising awareness was always a net positive. But in an era of limitless visual exposure, we are forced into a perpetual state of self-consciousness that turns existential on a daily basis. What happens when we see everything, but understand less? And how do we remain real to ourselves when our default reality has been erased? I’m curious to know your thoughts on this. How has this constant, passive exposure changed the way you live your own "default" life? Let’s discuss in the comments.
