Was buying this a mistake? This is a 1989 Pontiac Transam I inadvertently won at one of the salvage auctions. This was a donated car that hadn't been registered in nearly 17 years! In the last video I got it to run, albeit poorly, so it would drive onto the trailer to bring it home and work on it at my leisure. In this video, I first verify the casting numbers of both the block, and the heads. Pulling a valve cover allows us to inspect valve train and condition. Next, it was time to tackle some likely overdue maintenance. The entire ignition system was an unknown so I bought and installed fresh plugs, wires, cap and rotor. After these parts were installed, it still ran BAD, but it started easier. At this point, it was time to diagnose the root issue using an injector noid light, and the wiring diagram which led me to the problem! Once resolved, the car ran and what a surprise! What, you want me to give the entire video away? My name is Eric and I own and run Imporatpart, a full service auto salvage business. I buy cars from the salvage auctions every week and unfortunately for me(and fortunately for you), sometimes I end up winning a project car that just needs some attention. Often times I make videos on these cars fixing them, or at least getting them to run and drive whether they get put back on the road or not as I like to test all parts. That being said, this car needs a fair bit of work now, but I think it's worth it. The next video will tackle the brakes as it has, NONE. We'll inspect the steering and suspension in an effort to make it closer to being road worthy which is the end game. The goal is to be able to drive this car, semi-reliably.
