Magazine Scanning with Fuji ScanSnap iX500
The time has finally come to get rid of my late father's 20-year collection of Wireless World magazines. As I cannot bear to lose the information in these publications, I have chosen to scan them all before disposal. Although I have other scanners, they are all too slow to attempt this exercise (and I have other scanning-candidate magazine collections) so I bought the Fuji ScanSnap iX500 A4 native duplex document scanner. You will see from the video how quick this is. And note that it simultaneously scans both sides of each sheet. The hopper can handle about 50-60 sheets at a time, meaning that most magazines need to be scanned in two parts. This is a destructive process, as the spines have to be rived off using a robust guillotine (£80 new from eBay). This exercise is part of a de-cluttering process (known in Sweden as 'death-cleaning', apparently.) For information, I am not making any of my scanned material available on the Internet for sale or otherwise. I have disabled comments for this video.
