The Maritime Village Sønderho, Fanø

Sønderho is located on the southern end of Fanø, and was recently celebrated as the most beautiful village in Denmark. Sønderho is a maritime village dating from the early 16th century. The maritime development resulted in great economic progress during the 18th and 19th century, when the development stagnated due to los of tonnage and lives at sea by ordinary shipwreck, as well as war with the British, from 1807 to 1814.
