Rastaman At Heart Rastaman At Heart was inspired by one of my five brothers, a man who fell in love with reggae music from a very young age and has carried that passion with him throughout his entire life. Today, he is a proud father and grandfather, yet his love for reggae, its message, and the lifestyle it represents has never changed. The title Rastaman At Heart doesn't mean my brother was born in Jamaica or lived the exact experiences of a Jamaican Rastaman. Rather, it reflects the values he embraced through reggae music—love, unity, family, respect, spirituality, and staying true to who you are. A Rastaman at heart is someone who carries these qualities within them, regardless of where they come from. This song also takes a look back at our younger days growing up on a farm in Rewatu, Whakatāne. It reflects some of the memories, experiences, and simple way of life we shared as kids. While the stories I've heard and read about real Jamaicans and their upbringing were often very different from ours, there were still similarities in the importance of family, community, resilience, and connection to the land. More than anything, this track is a tribute to my brother—a man who has remained true to himself, true to his family, and true to the reggae music he has loved all his life.
