Community pays tribute to fallen Beech Grove Officer Brian Elliott
Beech Grove Police Ofc. Brian Elliott made the ultimate sacrifice Monday evening while responding to a domestic disturbance. "It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that today, we lost one of our very own," Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice said. Elliott, 33, and another officer responded to the 100 block of Diplomat Court, near Emerson and Hornet avenues, next to Beech Grove High School, shortly after 5:30 p.m. Feb. 16. While at the scene, Elliott and the other officer were shot by a suspect, identified by Indiana State Police as 47-year-old Kenneth Johnson. Both officers were transported to Eskenazi Hospital, but Maurice confirmed Elliott died from his injuries. "He has left a lasting impression and legacy on not only our department, but the city," Maurice said. "He always wanted to be a Beech Grove cop." https://www.wthr.com/article/news/cri...
