Jacqueline Badran: Airbnb- und Businessapartment Verbot | Meyer:Wermuth

A landmark Federal Supreme Court ruling confirms that the city of Zurich is permitted to restrict the conversion of residential space into Airbnb or business apartments. We speak with Jacqueline Badran about why this is an important and long-overdue step towards affordable housing. In recent years, the number of business apartments in Zurich has almost doubled, and in some districts, they already constitute a significant portion of the housing stock. We discuss the ruling and talk about potential circumvention strategies employed by the real estate industry, and what this could mean for the housing market. It aims to enshrine the automatic review of legally capped rental yields in the constitution.
