Calder: Nonspace
‘The thing that is so striking about Calder is how misunderstood he is. That is what this show is about.’ Alexander S. C. Rower, president of the Calder Foundation and grandson of the artist, introduces ‘Calder: Nonspace’ at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, alongside architect and designer Stephanie Goto. An exhibition of primarily monochromatic, abstract sculptures that create volumes out of voids, this the gallery’s first exhibition in Los Angeles devoted to renowned artist Alexander Calder (1898 – 1976), organized in collaboration with the Calder Foundation, New York. ‘Calder: Nonspace’ is on view at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles through 6 January 2019. – Hauser & Wirth is an international contemporary and modern art gallery with spaces in Zurich, London, Somerset, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Gstaad and St. Moritz. – Subscribe to Hauser & Wirth’s YouTube: https://bit.ly/2TNkDlM Sign up to Hauser & Wirth’s Newsletter: https://bit.ly/2ZIsYel Follow Hauser & Wirth on: Instagram: https://bit.ly/2TJN3gs Facebook: https://bit.ly/3exHrxX Twitter: https://bit.ly/2Agqbyo
