Start with a Custom Search • Scan for Cap+ Frequencies: • Begin with your SDS‑100 in custom search mode. • When you encounter a frequency displaying “Cap Plus” (for example, note the frequency shown), write it down for programming. 2. Create a New Favorites List and New System • Enter Favorites Management: • Press the Menu button and navigate to “Manage Favorites.” • Select “New Favorites List.” • Review/Edit System: • Within the new favorites list, choose “Review/Edit System” and then “New System.” • When prompted, type in your system name—for example, “Moto Turbo Trunk” (or another name of your choice)—and click Confirm by pressing the volume knob down or the E key (look for the small text “Yes / Q.Srch”). 3. Set Up System Options for DMR Cap+ • Enable ID Search: • In the “System Option” menu, ensure that the “ID Search” feature is turned On. • Create a New Site Entry: • Go to “Site Edit” and select “New Site.” • Choose the “Frequency” option and enter the frequency you noted (for example, type in “6 1.75”). • For the LC (Link Control Number) field, you can leave it as a placeholder (e.g., enter “1”) since you will search for the correct LC shortly. 4. Search for the Correct LCN (Link Control Number) • Initiate the LCN Search: • After entering the frequency and a placeholder LC, initiate a search by setting the color code to “Search.” (Many users prefer using white inverts for clarity.) • Then, back out to the main menu and select “Set Scan Selection.” • Turn off any scan lists except your new favorites list and exit back to the main scanning screen. • Analyze LCN Finder: • Navigate to “Analyze LCN Finder” and start the search. • Wait patiently while your scanner scans for activity—the LC will populate when transmissions are detected. • Confirm the LCN: • Once the correct LC appears, press the E key (or click the volume knob down) to confirm the value. • Your favorites system should update the LC from the placeholder (e.g., from “1” to the correct value such as “2”). 5. Save Talk Group and Unit IDs • Monitor Unknown IDs: • When new talk group IDs or unit IDs appear (displayed as “Unknown”), press the S key. • You’ll be prompted to save the talk group ID first; confirm by selecting Yes (using the E key/volume knob down). • Next, save the unit ID in a similar manner. • If you need to, back out to the main menu to access further entries. • Naming the System (Optional): • When prompted to name the system or assign an alert, choose a simple identifier (for example, “A”) so you can easily recognize it later. 6. Finalize and Monitor the System • Return to Favorites: • Go back to “Manage Favorites” to verify that your new system—with the updated frequency, LC, talk group ID, and unit ID—is saved. • Set Scan Selection: • Exit all menus and return to the scanning screen. • With your new favorites list active, the SDS‑100 will now begin populating with stations from the programmed DMR Cap+ system. • Ongoing Updates: • Each time a new, unknown ID appears on the screen, simply press the S key and confirm saving. This way, your system continuously updates with the latest talk group and unit information. Additional Tips: • Patience is Key: DMR Cap+ systems can take some time to fully populate. Allow your scanner a few minutes to gather data. • Antenna Considerations: A good antenna can significantly improve digital reception. Some users have noted excellent results with specialized antennas for DMR systems. • Practice Consistency: Use this method each time you program a new DMR Cap+ frequency to ensure consistency and reliability.
