Mercedes Gearbox Selector Won't Select

My car would go into limp home mode and my gearbox would get stuck in one gear. When I went to select reverse or park the selector wouldn't physically allow me to unless the engine was off. I did some research and found that it was likely not the gearbox at fault, but cracked solder joints in the selector.
