EPISODE 57: Election Recap, Fargo’s New Leadership, TEDxFargo & Hope Blooms

On Episode 57 of Rocky’s Downtown Hour, Rocky recaps Fargo’s local election and what the results mean for the city’s next chapter. Josh Boschee was elected Mayor of Fargo, and Chad Peterson and Nikkie Gullickson were elected to the Fargo City Commission. Rocky is joined by newly elected Fargo City Commissioner Chad Peterson, the top vote-getter in the City Commission race. Chad is a former Cass County Commissioner and longtime public servant. Rocky and Chad discuss the election, what he heard from voters, his priorities, how he plans to work with the current commissioners, and what it means to serve during a time of transition for Fargo. The second half of the show focuses on TEDxFargo and community ideas worth spreading. Liz Campbell from Emerging Prairie joins the show to preview TEDxFargo, happening July 29–30. Liz shares what TEDxFargo is, what people can expect, how to buy tickets, and how the event creates energy beyond the stage. Rocky and Liz also discuss related downtown experiences, including the July 29 David Snyder concert hosted by the Downtown Community Partnership and the attempt to break the world record for the most people playing tic-tac-toe. The show closes with Kelly Krenzel from Hope Blooms, a local nonprofit that repurposes donated flowers into bedside bouquets for people who need encouragement, connection, and joy. Kelly, who spoke at TEDxFargo last year, shares the Hope Blooms story, how the organization reduces waste, spreads kindness, and reminds people that they matter.
