Henry VIII SECRET WEAPON - Giant Fire Darts!
The Mary Rose ship sunk in 1545, fully loaded for war and amongst the thousands of finds from the wreck were massive and slightly mysterious, incendiary darts; 8 feet or 2.4m long. But we still know so little about them and intriguingly, not even if they were thrown from the crows nests or shot from a cannon. Its about time we found out more, so I visited the museum where it is displayed and met Dr Alex Hildred the head of research to find out more about them...... and how to make them. In the second film I make some darts and meet Alex in a field to test them in all sorts of ways to start to find out their properties and discover just how fearsome they were.
