Welcome to Part 1 of our most insane, grueling, and ambitious road trip yet: driving from the misty heights of Darjeeling all the way down to Bangalore—completely NON-STOP. We aren't talking about a casual cruise. This journey takes us straight through the heart of India, forcing us to make a massive, high-stakes tactical call right out of the gate. 🕒 The Timeline & The Strategy:- To pull off a 2,500+ km non-stop run, timing is everything. Our departure from the hills was calculated to hit a specific window, leading us to a choice that most seasoned highway drivers would call crazy: The Misty Descent: Crawling down the steep, fog-laden hairpins from Darjeeling, where visibility was near zero. The Gauntlet: Timing our route so that we hit Bihar and Madhya Pradesh (MP) dead in the middle of the night. 🌃 Why We Chose to Drive Bihar & MP at Night Driving through Bihar and MP after dark is notoriously avoided by interstate travelers due to heavy truck corridors, unpredictable local traffic, and unmarked diversions. So, why did we do it? 1. Beating the Daytime Chaos: Passing through these heavily populated belts during the day means battling endless swarms of local two-wheelers, e-rickshaws, and chaotic market traffic that completely tanks your average speed. 2. Truck Convoy Pace: While the night brings out the heavy multi-axle trucks, they move at a predictable, steady pace. If you can navigate the "no-go traffic" zones and high-beam blinders, you can maintain a much higher average speed. 3. Pure Endurance: To complete a 2,559 km run without stopping overnight at a hotel, someone has to drive the graveyard shift.
