In 2018, we underwent kidney transplants between spouses, just one week apart. Now, four years after the surgery, we can smile peacefully thanks to transplant medicine, the medical professionals who have cared for us for over 30 years, and our family and friends. However, before we could step onto the operating table together, we faced many struggles. Our couple's decisions, our family's understanding, our life plans, love, and death... Although we completely trusted our doctor, we couldn't shake off fears like, "What if my spouse, who acted as the donor, becomes ill?" "What if the donated kidney deteriorates quickly?" "What if both spouses fall ill as a result of the kidney transplant?" To allay these anxieties, before the surgery, we sought out the voices of others who had undergone kidney transplants. "Are those who have undergone kidney transplants living happily?" We really wanted to know. However, it wasn't easy to reach people who had undergone transplants. With this in mind, the Kidney Life Channel aims to convey the information we wish we had known four years ago in as easy-to-understand a way as possible, and delivers information about kidney transplant medicine and kidney disease from a patient's perspective. We always do our best to speak. However, these are experiences told from a patient's perspective, and may only be a sample. After all, the more experiences we have, the better. I'd like to continue interviewing transplant patients and medical professionals (please feel free to contact anyone who would like to hear from me!). However, we were still depressed with countless concerns, such as, "What if my partner gets sick because I took his/her kidney?", or "What if it doesn't work and I make my husband's/wife's kidney go to waste?" and, "What if both of us get weaker because of the transplant?"
