England blind footballer meets WBA star ahead of IBSA World Games

From park pitches to lining up for England - and starring in a huge international tournament right here in the West Midlands. England blind footballer Eesa Amjid is in the Three Lions squad for the IBSA World Games - the top competition outside the Paralympics. Eesa found his joy for the sport as a nine-year-old through The Albion Foundation, the official charity partner of West Bromwich Albion, hosting a session at his school. He had to play football in his local park during lockdown but is now part of the England set up ready for the Games. He was invited down to Albion's training ground to meet club captain Jed Wallace to put him through his paces with a blindfold on. Eesa also looked ahead to the IBSA Games and laid out his aspirations for the tournament, with England facing Germany, Argentina and China in the group stages. We're sponsoring the International Blind Sport Federation’s (IBSA) World Games, having played our part in bringing the 10-day event here a year on from the hugely-successful Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. West Midlands Combined Authority is a group of local authorities here to make the region a better place to live and work. With thanks to WBA for sharing this film.
