From a historical-materialist perspective, we show how housing has gone from shelter to investment, how neoliberal urbanism has deregulated territory in the name of capital, and how the "sharing economy" has converted entire neighborhoods into zones of income extraction. Based on data and studies from cities such as Lisbon, Barcelona, ​​New York, and Sydney, the video demonstrates the quantitative impact of Airbnb on rents, tourist gentrification, and the erosion of community fabric. More than just numbers, it's an analysis of the social and psychological emptying of cities—where the resident becomes a mere extra in the tourism that expels them. In conclusion, we discuss concrete paths forward: policies for the decommodification of housing, new models of urban planning, and the strategic role of social and environmental sustainability as a central axis for the reconstruction of cities.
