The 2000s were a turbulent time for the Walt Disney Animation Studio. The Disney Renaissance had come to an end, and audiences began to grow tired of the fairy tale musicals that dominated the 90’s. The Disney Post Renaissance Era, sometimes also called the “Experimental” era, saw the studio experiment with a number of different genres in the changing animation industry. The movies of this era ranged from buddy comedies to science fiction and everything in between! This would be the last time the studio would emphasize hand-drawn animation and the first that the studio would release CG features. It was also the era where Disney had to reinvent itself to keep up with competition from Pixar and Dreamworks.
