FLY FISHING Freshwater Striped Bass (DAY 1)

This is the first installment from a recent trip to chase some freshwater stripers! The goal was to fly fish exclusively for these fish but bright, calm conditions in the middle of the day meant the bait and bass were setting up in deep water where it was difficult to get flies in front of them. We caught a mixed bag of spotted bass, stripers, and a rare smallmouth this first day on both fly and conventional gear.
