SMITHS INGERSOLL Cal PY pocket watch service Part 1 disassembly
These watches are inexpensive and survive in the millions so are a common choice for a first attempt at watch servicing. This is not always a good idea as they are fiddly to reassemble and many watchmakers will not touch them. I made this video in haste for my watch class so forgive zoom errors. Part 1 covers disassembly, removing the cannon pinion & mainspring ready for cleaning. Part 2 covers completing the cleaning process including removing rust from pinion leaves. Part 3 covers re-assembly and lubrication.
