Leeds West Indian Carnival 1974
Leeds West Indian Carnival returns to the city on August Bank Holiday Monday! One of the North of England’s biggest annual events, Carnival celebrates its 56th anniversary in 2023. Back in 1974, amateur filmmaker Ken Leckenby was on hand in Potternewton Park to record the sights and sounds of the day as part of his ‘Out and About’ series, documenting a year of life in Leeds and the surrounding area.
