Yugoslavia 1960s
A piece of vintage beauty! Previously untouched old footage from our collection. On Kodachrome 8 mm, filmed by British tourists on the Yugoslav coast in the 1960s. Some shots from today's Croatian Opatija , including its landmark Church of the Annunciation with its distinctive green dome - designed during the Austrian rule, later completed by the Italians after WW1. Like most of the area, the city changed hands four times in the 20th Century from Sankt Jacobi to Abbazia and its current name. Dubrovnik is here too in its full splendour. Also some rare footage of the former tram system of Dubrovnik - in operation between 1910 and 1970, when it closed. Yugoslavia was a major destination for Western tourists during the Cold War. Unlike in other Communist countries in the area, foreign tourists in Yugoslavia were less conspicuously followed by the authorities . They were allowed to move around independently and capture on camera the scenery and the lifestyle of people. https://mycentury.tv/bg/balkani/yugos... #Croatia #Kroatien #Hrvatska #Austria #Österreich #Italia #Italy #Trieste #Dubrovnik #Opatija #Abbazia #SanktJacobi #Yugoslavia #Jugoslavija #Dalmatia #Kodak #Kodachrome #Balkans #Zagreb
