Why are quality bras so expensive?
Why Are Quality Bras So Expensive? Hi, it's Angela from Esteem Lingerie! Today, I'm sharing a personal story about my first bra fitting and the journey that led me to understand why quality bras are so expensive. As a late bloomer, finding a bra that fit properly was a struggle, and I ended up with drawers full of bras that didn't fit despite spending anywhere from $20 to $80 each. It wasn't until my mom took me to a local lingerie boutique for a professional fitting that my life changed. Why are quality bras so expensive? This question pops up frequently in the comments on our YouTube channel and Facebook page. The answer isn't straightforward, as it varies by country due to factors like currency, duties, and tariffs. However, in Canada, a quality bra typically costs between $100 to $250. Considering that bras are worn almost daily, the cost per wear of a well-fitting bra is actually quite low. One major reason why quality bras are so expensive is the time and effort that goes into making them. For example, the Prima Donna Deauville bra, which we call the "Queen," involves numerous pieces and extensive sewing by highly skilled artisans. These bras aren't mass-produced in minutes; they take hours to create and undergo rigorous quality control to ensure they fit perfectly. The Deauville bra has been a staple for over 75 years due to its consistent fit and durability. Women often return years later with their Deauville bras still in great shape. Investing in a high-quality bra means you get a product that lasts, holds its shape, and continues to fit well over time. Therefore, the cost per wear justifies the initial investment. At Esteem Lingerie, we believe you don't need a drawer full of bras. I personally manage with five everyday bras, two sports bras, and a few "downgrades" for activities like gardening. Most women can get by with three great everyday bras and a specialty bra, depending on their needs. Once you have a solid bra wardrobe, you only need to add one or two bras per year to keep everything in rotation. Maintaining a well-curated bra wardrobe ensures you always have a great-fitting bra for any outfit. Even the best bras are consumable items and won't last forever, but adding one or two new bras each year is manageable for most budgets.
