Oh, You Must Have Been a Most Beautiful Baby - Joordan Mackay feat. J. Caven

Joordan Mackay's latest single release, "Oh, You Must Have Been a Most Beautiful Baby," delves into life's profound questions, primarily from a masculine perspective. Each of us has been considered a beautiful baby by someone at some point. The question is one of accountability: what remains of innocence after crossing the threshold into middle age. As the song reflects, "By the time we are thirty, we are smelly and dirty." Musically, the track finds its place in the middle range of Joordan Mackay's style spectrum: the riff draws from bluegrass, while the tempo and sonic landscape echo the blues-rock DNA of its creators. The addition of the mandolin sprinkles a touch of acoustic Led Zeppelin into the mix. The rhythm section features fervent yet straightforward percussion, organically improvised. The vocals on the single are provided by Tampere's own J. Caven, renowned for his acclaimed, ruggedly raucous troubadour style, also known to heavy music enthusiasts as the lead singer and guitarist for the band All Rise. "Jarkko (J. Caven) was an obvious choice for interpreting this song. He embodies the roughness and strength, yet also the sensitivity, that we were looking for," says Joordan Mackay. "The song immediately struck a chord with me. Musically, it carries timeless melodic storytelling. And the lyrics' simultaneously light and sardonically heavy message hit deep. I hesitated to participate for a moment simply because Petteri's demo vocals were so incredibly effective. But of course, I wanted to be part of the song's narrative," says Jarkko.
