Nayara Daniele dos Reis worked as a gas station attendant in Mongaguá, on the coast of São Paulo, seeking financial stability and a formal employment contract. However, after only two months, she began to experience serious health problems due to exposure to benzene in gasoline. She presented symptoms such as dizziness and shortness of breath, leading to a diagnosis of benzene poisoning that progressed to chemical pneumonia. At 38 years old, Nayara has only 30% of her lung capacity, requiring continuous oxygen and medication. Unable to work and living on disability benefits from the INSS (Brazilian Social Security Institute), she is seeking legal redress against the gas station where she worked. So far, she has received no response or support from the company.
