Greetings to everyone from Busan, South Korea. Today is my first day in South Korea and I planned to visit the Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery in the first video. We will also talk about the Korean war and Turkish-South Korean relations. About the Korean War: The Korean War was a conflict that lasted from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953. This war occurred between Communist North Korea in the north of the Korean Peninsula and Democratic South Korea in the south. The cause of the war is the division of the Korean Peninsula and the tension between Korean governments with two different ideologies. The Korean War was a reflection of the conflict between the United States and other Western countries and communist powers such as the Soviet Union and China, as part of the Cold War era. The United Nations Security Council formed an international coalition to support South Korea. One of the most notable features of the war was the successful intervention of United Nations forces against North Korea. At the end of the war, the Korean Peninsula was almost returned to its previous borders, but it ended with an armistice agreement. However, the Korean Peninsula is still officially divided between two separate states, and relations between North Korea and South Korea remain tense. Turkish-Korean Relations: Relations between South Korea and Türkiye have generally developed in a friendly and cooperative manner. Here are some important points about these relationships: Diplomatic Relations: Diplomatic relations between South Korea and Türkiye were established in 1961. There are embassies between the two countries. Economic Relations: South Korea and Türkiye cooperate economically. The trade volume between the two countries has increased over time. There are cooperation opportunities especially in sectors such as automotive, electronics, construction, and defense industry. Cultural Exchange: Cultural exchange programs further strengthen the relations between South Korea and Türkiye. Student exchange programs, cultural events and artistic interactions stand out in this area. Defense and Security Cooperation: South Korea and Turkey have cooperated in working together in the international arena. They have similar interests, especially in United Nations peacekeeping missions. Science and Technology Cooperation: Cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and technology is also developing. Joint projects and exchange of scientists are important in this field. Education: South Korea and Turkey are exploring cooperation opportunities in the field of education. Particularly inter-university cooperation and student exchange programs are effective in this field. Relations between South Korea and Turkey are based on the potential for cooperation arising from the two countries sharing similar economic and geopolitical interests. Therefore, relations are likely to further strengthen and expand in the future. Busan Turkish Military Martyrdom: Busan Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery is a Turkish military cemetery located in Busan, South Korea. This martyrdom was established to preserve the memory of the Turkish soldiers who lost their lives during the Korean War. The Korean War took place between 1950 and 1953, and during this war, the Turkish Armed Forces fought in support of South Korea within the framework of the United Nations Forces. Busan Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery was created after the declaration of the ceasefire on July 27, 1953. This martyrs cemetery contains the graves of Turkish soldiers and soldiers from other United Nations Forces countries. These soldiers lost their lives during the Korean War. The Turkish cemetery is located in a special area about 9 kilometers southeast of Busan city center, where a large monument decorated with Turkish and Korean flags is located. This martyrs' cemetery is considered a symbol of friendship between Turkey and South Korea and is open to visitors with annual commemoration ceremonies.
