Admiral William H. McRaven, 2012 Chancellor's Council Meeting & Symposium

As Commander of USSOCOM, Admiral William H. McRaven oversees the readiness of Joint Special Operations forces and, as directed, conducts military operations worldwide. McRaven graduated from UT Austin with a degree in journalism and has gone on to command at every level within the Special Operations community, including assignments as commander of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), commander of Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR), and the first director of the NATO Special Operations Forces Coordination Center. He has commanded SEAL Teams and served in numerous leadership and staff positions in combatting terrorism.
