Genroku Hanami Odori | 元禄花見踊り - 54th UMD Koto Recital #1

(Dancing under the Cherry Blossoms) Sakamoto Tsutomu, arr. 1963 Prior to the Genroku Era (1688 – 1703), Japanese life was centered around feudalism with various privileges being limited only to the elite, i.e., daimyo and samurai class. The Genroku Era brought cultural growth to the country with many outstanding artists leading the way towards development of schools for the arts, tea, music, etc. This is also the era in which the general population became more mobile, literate, and entertainment oriented. Genroku Hanami Odori represents the mood of the times as people happily dance under the cherry blossoms. 1st Koto - Lydia Danen, lynne homann cure, Changxu Pang, Fuki Tsujikawa, Hiromi Waite 2nd Koto - Yuriko Gandolfo, Mykenna Magnusen, Lombar Martinez, Michiko Masutani, Kristy Sakano, Patrick Torre Bass Koto - Colin Khem Sangen - George Mobille, Sachiko Smith Shakuhachi - Eli Kohlenberg Taiko - Priscilla Seah
