This world premiere performance given by Cyprien Kasaris of the Rhapsodie Chypriote (Cypriot Rhapsody) took place at the Salle Pleyel in Paris on 1 March 1978. It was composed by Katsaris himself in 1978 for a charity concert for the benefit of Cypriot refugees, victims of the 1974 war.
