He was born in a jewish sephardic family in the region of Seridó (Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil). When he was seven years old, he already played soprano saxophone in the philarmonic of his town. Prodigy boy. His father, Bill Medeiros, who instructed he in his first lessons, was his main impeller in the musical carrer. Then, Urbano already called the public's atention anywhere he showed, since he executed melodies of a very hard level. With so much talent, he went known in the music through the accordionist Sivuca, that he met in a musical concert in São João do Sabugi. Still teenager, when he was seventeen, was named by the Ministério da Cultura as "the most young maestro of Brazil", since he conductor of the Filarmônica do Caicó State College (Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil). When he was eighteen, he was the first saxophonist of the Batalhão de Engenharia de Construção (BEC), still in Caicó (RN), and later in S. Gabriel da Cachoeira (Amazonas). He had several professions. After living many years in São Paulo, he could experiment to be a radialist, actor, performer, art-educator and comunicator, beyond present himself as an erudit instrumentalist musician. He is a natural improvisator! Urbano Medeiros is married and has three children and two grandchildren. Already passed by for almost five thousand cities of Brazil and the world publishing our culture and playing musics with terapeuthic purposes for sick people. The musician goes everywhere with the goal of taking, live and through media, his artistic practice. His works - thirty CDs, six DVDs and five books - travel through the four corners of the world.
