Two leading street bands and rappers collide. ■RIZE RIZE was formed in 1997 by Jesse and Nobuaki Kaneko. They made their major label debut in 2000 with the single "Kaminari." KenKen joined the band in 2006. Their passionate expression of the "present" of rock has earned them widespread support, and they've earned international acclaim, including successful tours across the US and Asia. Formed in Yokohama by MACCHO and DJ TOMO in 1996, they gained popularity with their heavy West Coast-style sound and MACCHO's powerful rap. Their 2001 album, "ROLLIN'045," featuring tracks like "AREA AREA" and "WHOOO," is lauded as a milestone in Japanese hip-hop. Since then, DJ TOMO has left the band, DJ SN-Z has joined, and the band has expanded to include Takeshi from Yamaarashi, Bunta from TOTALFAT, YD from Crystal Lake, and GUNHEAD from HABANERO POSSE. In 2017, however, he wrote the songs "THIS IS MY ERA." and "OUR TIME IS N.O.W." for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, and continues to exude a powerful presence as a representative Yokohama artist.
