Rokusainenbutsu Mibudera temple, Buddhist dance festival
The last samurai visits Mibudera temple in Kyoto, Japan and introduces Mibu Rokusai Nenbutsu festival, Buddhist dance on August 9th, 2022. Rokusai nenbutsu derives from Odori nenbutsu in 10th century. Odori nenbutsu means dancing and chanting prayer to Amida Buddha. Kuya, a monk in 10th century is said to have started this type of dancing. This was one of the new types of Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism. Kuya is famous for the unique statue, six Amida Buddhas are coming out from his mouth in the air.
