Lillehammer is famous for several reasons but two of them are more obvious than the others; the host of the Winter Olympics in 1994 and later the star of the Netflix hit series Lilyhammer. You will propably not meet so many of the odd personalities from the series here, but instead we give you 10 reasons to visit Lillehammer and the surrounding area. We visit the city center, the Olumpic Arenas like Håkons Hall, Birkebeineren Ski Stadion and Lysgårdsbakkene, Maihaugen - Norway´s largest open air museum, Hunderfossen Adventure Park, Hafjell ski resort in summer with Gaiastova, Ilsetra and Pellestova, the Olympic Museum, author and Nobel prize winner Sigrid Unseths home Bjerkebæk, the mainstreet Gågata in Lillehammer, Lillehammer Art Museum and the special,architecture in Gudbrandsdalen.
