That year, employees of Macy's, one of the largest department stores in the world, paraded through the streets of the Big Apple in costumes. They were accompanied by animals from the Central Park Zoo. Since then, the event has grown and undergone changes. Today, it winds through the streets of New York with giant balloons, floats, marching bands, school bands, and various performances. Speaking of balloons, there are options featuring a wide variety of characters, from Snoopy and Pikachu to SpongeBob SquarePants and Ronald McDonald.
