Anna Rabkin, Author. Published in 2018, Anna's powerful memoir From Kraków to Berkeley: Coming Out of Hiding details her survival of the Holocaust in Poland, escape to England via Kindertransport, eventual move to New York, and arrival in Berkeley by way of a Volkswagen camper. Anna nurtures her family, wins multiple elections to serve as Berkeley's City Auditor from 1979 to 1994, and earns master's degrees from UC Berkeley and CSU East Bay. Her journey is one of incredible resilience and a fascinating exploration of the intersections of trauma, identity, the women's movement, and local progressive politics.
