We tested our new Makita impact drill and screwdriver in a variety of usage situations. We put the Makita drill to a severe test, exceeding some of its maximum usage specifications, just to test the equipment's ability to surpass the limits stated by the manufacturer. METAL TESTS WITH DRILL/SANDER MODE We performed drilling tests with 5 and 8 mm metal drill bits on thick steel plate, we also drilled metal with a standard drill bit and we drilled metal with a stepped drill bit. We also performed a short demonstration of the drill with a wire brush bit to remove rust from steel pipe. WOOD TESTS WITH DRILL/SANDER MODE We drilled holes in the wood using a 32 mm drill bit and a 64 mm hole saw. We also drilled holes using a standard wood drill bit up to 10 mm. We used a rubber disc with sandpaper for wood to demonstrate the optional disc sander function. *ERRATA: In the video, we said that the maximum recommended drill bit for wood was 13 mm, but in the case of wood it is 36 mm according to the Makita manufacturer's manual. In any case, we exceeded the specification when using a 64 mm hole saw.* SCREWDRIVER We performed several tests of screw fastening and removal with and without a guide hole, in a very hard green pitangueira wood trunk, and also in a standard EUR pallet. MASONRY / CONCRETE Some drilling tests were performed on a concrete block wall and also on a piece of precast machined concrete.
