The Odawara Hojo Godai Matsuri takes place annually in early May in Odawara, a city located just south of Tokyo. Commencing from the premises of Odawara Castle, this festival showcases a magnificent martial exhibition that entails a grand parade featuring a multitude of performers dressed in authentic costumes from the feudal era. The Odawara Hojo Godai Matsuri serves as a tribute to the esteemed warlords of the Hojo clan, renowned for their dominance over the region for five generations, beginning in the late 15th century. The procession embarks from the exquisite Odawara Castle, leisurely advancing through the city streets. The procession is composed of hundreds of samurai warriors adorned in vibrant attire, accompanied by musket-wielding foot soldiers, cavalry, elegantly dressed women in traditional kimono, groups of agile ninja, and other performers whose appearances evoke the captivating essence of Japan's feudal history.
