There are things life takes away, and others that no one can truly take away. For Lourdes, that "something" was always soccer. From the age of seven, the ball was her world: she asked for one for Three Kings Day, skipped parties for a game, played until her knees bled. At thirteen, she almost made the Mexican Women's National Team, but her parents didn't have the 10,000 pesos they required. That door closed. Time went on. Life took her away from the fields. Years later, as a single mother of three, soccer was completely behind her. What wasn't left behind was who she is: someone who doesn't give up, who works hard, who fights, and who takes care of her family even if it costs her everything. Then one day she arrived at Santa Martha Acatitla prison. Inside the prison, where she least expected it, she was told there was soccer.
