KJR-FM 95.7 Seattle - Charlie & Ty FINAL MINUTES FINAL SHOW - September 1997 - Radio Aircheck Charlie Brown & Ty Flint are radio legends in the Pacific Northwest. Charlie & Ty were one of Seattle radio’s most memorable on-air teams, bringing a fast-paced, fun-loving energy to both KUBE and KJR-FM. They first made a splash at KUBE, the city’s go-to station for Top 40 during the 1980s & 1990s. Known for their wild morning antics, sharp chemistry, and ability to blend music with pop culture commentary, they quickly built a strong following. Whether it was hilarious prank calls, over-the-top contests, or just their infectious back-and-forth banter, Charlie & Ty had that morning show magic that kept listeners hooked and made commutes a lot more entertaining. For a period in 1994 & 1995, Charlie & Ty were on both CHR formatted KUBE & KJR-FM with it's all 70s format, with the popular morning show. By 1996, they were exclusively on KJR-FM, but they didn’t lose their edge. Instead, they adapted their style to fit a broader audience, while keeping the humor and personality that made them stand out. At KJR-FM, they leaned into nostalgic music and relatable stories, connecting with a wider demo while still feeling uniquely “Seattle.” Fans who had grown up with them at KUBE followed them over, and new listeners discovered what longtime fans already knew—Charlie & Ty were the kind of radio hosts who felt more like your friends than voices behind a mic.
