A birth center transfer, epic back labor, epidural failure, boundaries, and trusting your gut

This week Merelise is joined by her friend and Clover by CLOVE + HALLOW founder and CEO, Sarah Biggers Stewart. Sarah really wanted a low intervention birth experience with her first, so she planned a birth center birth, but ultimately ended up with a transfer to hospital due to meconium being present in her waters. After hours and hours of extremely painful back labor, Sarah decided to get an epidural, which allowed her to relax, rest and finally give birth to her baby boy. When she was eight weeks pregnant with her second baby, Sarah's husband was diagnosed with kidney failure. After an emotionally and physically taxing pregnancy caring for her toddler and husband, as well as running her business, Sarah decided to get induced at 41+5 weeks at the hospital. She proceeded to have a smooth and successful induction, followed by a beautiful birth in which she welcomed her daughter into the world after only 2 pushes. In this episode Merelise & Sarah talk about everything from trying to induce labor with midwife's brew to night nurse shame, postpartum boundaries, listening to your gut, pelvic floor PT, gestational diabetes, going back to work quickly after birth, and so much more.
