1981 Porsche 911 SC ROW — This Was Supposed to Be THE LAST 911 EVER

In 1981, Porsche was ready to move on from the 911. The 928 was supposed to be the future — front-engined, water-cooled, and everything the modern Porsche buyer was meant to want. The air-cooled rear-engined sports car that built the brand was living on borrowed time. But the 911 survived. And this is one of the finest versions of it ever made. This is Sascha's 1981 Porsche 911 SC — a Rest of World (ROW) spec car that never had to suffer the emissions strangling that gutted the American market version. While US buyers got a 172 hp shadow of the real thing, the ROW SC made 204 hp from the same 3.0L flat-six. Same car. More soul. And a lineage that almost got erased entirely. We took it up Bald Peak in Oregon's Chehalem Mountains to give it the road it deserved.
