Inaugural Address | Orientation Programme for Newly Elected Members of the #WestBengalAssembly

Addressed the inaugural ceremony of the two-day Orientation Programme, held today for the members of the 18th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal. West Bengal has been a land of knowledge, literature, art, culture, spiritual consciousness, industry, education, and intellectualism. At different times, its great personalities have shaped the nation and the state. Bengal gave voice to the freedom movement with the slogan "Vande Mataram." It is heartening that more than 180 honorable members of the newly formed Legislative Assembly of the state are first-time elected members. Two-thirds of the total number of members are between 25 and 55 years of age. This is a testament to the growing confidence of youth in our legislative system. In his address, he urged the young and first-time MLAs to take full advantage of the knowledge and guidance of experienced members. He urged them to keep the welfare of the people, the spirit of the Constitution, and unwavering commitment to democratic values ​​at the center of every thought and decision. There may be mutual agreements and disagreements in the House, but the traditions of democracy and good dialogue must remain intact. To deliver the best results as public representatives, it is essential that honorable members gain a deep understanding of the best traditions of the Legislative Assembly. Review past proceedings of the House, study important discussions, spend as much time in the House as possible, and read the Constituent Assembly debates. This will enable you to participate in discussions with logical arguments, raise public issues, and actively participate in state policies. In addition to a thorough knowledge of the legislative process and system, it is essential that legislative members make proper use of new technology, innovation, AI, and digital technology. We can make technology an effective tool for transparency and public participation. A developed Bengal is essential for building a developed India by 2047. Let everyone unite for this goal.
