He sang tenor for the Dixie Echoes from 1969–1970, briefly sang with The Downings in 1970, and later became a member of the The James Blackwood Quartet in the early 1990s. Ford gained widespread recognition through his appearances on many of the Gaither Homecoming Series videos, where his heartfelt performances of hymns and gospel standards endeared him to audiences nationwide. Throughout his career, he has also contributed as a songwriter and arranger, helping preserve traditional gospel music while presenting it with a polished, accessible style rooted in ministry.
