Wagner Sampaio, regional president for Latin America at RHI Magnesita, is today's interviewee in the Minas S/A Protagonismos season, available on all O TEMPO platforms. Founded in 1939, Magnesita is a Minas Gerais-based company that joined the Austrian RHI group in 2017 and is now called RHI Magnesita. “Magnesita was founded almost 90 years ago, along with some other Brazilian steel mills, in Contagem, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, to manufacture refractories for production systems that use high temperatures in the country. Before the merger in 2017, we were the third largest company in the world in the sector, and today we are the first globally,” explains Sampaio in an interview with journalist Helenice Laguardia. The company has 76 production units in more than 100 countries, 12 recycling centers, and five research centers.
