The Department conducts research into protective and utility parameters of all types of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the compliance with EU requirements, taking into account new risk and the changing needs of users. Our researchers work also on the improvement of materials and design of PPE, as well as simulation of phenomena related to their use. We study the application of intelligent materials and systems to protective clothing, especially in the area of comfort of use in cold and hot environments. The use of personal protective equipment is recommended where it is not possible to reduce the risk "at source", change the technology or apply collective protective measures. The modernised, state-of-the-art research laboratories of the Department of Personal Protective Equipment are located in Łódź.
