my Squier Sonic Tele review

My review of the Squier Sonic Telecaster. Synopsis: good value for the money, but I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, because it required some fixing and setup to make it playable. I had to adjust the truss rod, which was fully loose from the factory (i.e., no proper setup was done at all, even though someone apparently did set the intonation, which doesn't make sense to bother with until the truss rod is adjusted, but whatever). And also, I had to actually cut the nut a bit wider for the low E string, which was riding high in the slot because it was too narrow. (I failed to mention this part in the video.) I just used a length of spare E string and "sawed" it forward and back in the slot, using the windings on the string to abrade the plastic nut until it was wide enough for the string to seat properly. Again, simple stuff, which anyone setting up the guitar at the factory should have caught; so it's obvious there was no such person, which is clearly how they're saving enough money to offer such a semi-decent guitar at such a low price. (Did you ever notice, I begin all of my videos with "OK, so...".)
