Benalmádena Pueblo is perched above the coastline, offering a peaceful contrast to the lively atmosphere of Benalmádena Costa. This charming whitewashed village traces its origins back to the name Ben-al-Madina, meaning “Children of the Mines,” a reference to the area’s historic ochre and iron resources. The village retains the character of a traditional Andalusian pueblo, with whitewashed houses decorated by vibrant flowers throughout its narrow streets. At its heart lies Plaza de España, an attractive square shaded by fragrant orange trees. Its focal point is the fountain featuring “La Niña,” the symbolic figure of Benalmádena. The square is also home to several welcoming restaurants where visitors can relax and enjoy the surroundings. Although Benalmádena Pueblo provides plenty of facilities for visitors, renting a car is recommended for easy access to the beaches, a wider selection of shops, and the many attractions and neighbouring resorts along the Costa del Sol.
