Prime Minister Milton Obote Responds To Deposed Ugandan King's Threat To Kill Him | June 1966
Saturday, June 25th 1966. Footage of Ugandan Prime Minister Milton Obote responding to a death threat issued by Sir Edward Frederick Mutebi Mutesa II, the deposed Kabaka of the Kingdom of Buganda. Mr. Obote dismissed the threat and said that the Kabaka was no longer a factor in Ugandan politics. The Kabaka, who was popularly referred to as "King Freddie", was living in exile in Britain and had been accused of treason. Obote was speaking in Nairobi, Kenya where he was attending a conference of East African leaders. Source: Reuters News Archive.
