FREKANSRAGGA • KRYS parle de « An vlé an gal »

Pointe-à-Pitre, Lauricisque district. A 15-year-old hangs out with the Black Micky crew at sound systems, meets Tiwony, Admiral T, and Little Espion. It's a revelation: dancehall, and nothing else. The launchpad is "An vlé an gal," featured on the Megawatt compilation—an underground banger that electrifies the entire Caribbean community even before the release of his first EP in 2004. But behind the hitmaker lies another Krys, less well-known but just as influential: while venues fill up and the charts soar, the artist simultaneously pursues business studies at the Montpellier Business School. An internship at Publicis, a degree obtained in 2007, graduating top of his class—France discovers a young man who is successfully navigating two demanding paths, far removed from the stereotypes about Caribbean artists. Twenty-one years later, the streaming numbers confirm this serious and rewarding approach. “Mister Plata” has surpassed 1.3 million streams, and “Bing Bang - Chokola” is nearing a million. But the real monster remains “God Bless (Ah la vie qu’on mène)”: over 9 million streams, an anthem of resilience that encapsulates twenty years of his journey. This high-level training wasn't a detour, but a foundation. In 2008, diploma in hand, Krys launched his own label, Step Out Production. The rigor of business school applied to local music: that's how a kid from Lauricisque became the master of his own legend. Find FrekansZouk on TikTok and Instagram: @FrekansZouk
