Bill Simon had the business card prophecy effect in his book Effective Card Magic, 1952. Rafael Benatar published his version using two named cards instead of two selected cards, and I feel Rafael's idea of using named cards elevates the effect. I posted a culling procedure for Rafael's version in my Cardjurer lecture notes in 2012. There have been several variations on the handling of the prophecy move -- the one I used in this video is by Jim Patton and Bruce Cervon and was published in Genii Magazine in the early nineties.
