This year’s family beach trip turned into another shark story when Caleb worked his way up the food chain, catching a whiting that eventually became bait for the shark rod. After a smaller bonnethead and a whole lot of waiting, the shark rod finally went off. With Caleb and my uncle helping in the surf, we fought, landed, unhooked, and released a blacktip shark from the beach — but the catch wasn’t really the whole story.
